Meet Kimber – an absolutely adorable and energetic 3 year old!! She came to my studio for her 3rd birthday session and boy was it a blast!! This girl LOVES Frozen, dancing, and singing and I couldn’t get over how adorable she was dancing to “Do you want to build a snowman” and “Let it Go”. She knew EVERY single action to the lyrics and was right in sync with the song.

We got her to sit still for a few and they turned out adorable!! In hindsight, I should have brought out the bubbles at the end of the session but either way, she did a great job! At the end of her session, I let her rip off the streamers on the wall so I could use my tan wall as a backdrop and she had WAY too much fun with the streamers – which made for the BEST photo sequence when mom thew them up in the air and they landed on her :).

The “S” Family // Large Family Session // Dubuque Family Photographer

E.J & Tom// Platteville Seniors 2014 // Platteville Senior Photographer

I was contacted by E.J’s mom a week before Thanksgiving about her son’s senior session – the yearbook deadline was December 1st and the photographer they had lined up with earlier fell through and they were in a pinch. Thankfully, I had a few openings to squeeze him in before heading to MN for Thanksgiving with my family and we were excited we were able to make it work. E.J’s friend Tom also needed his photos done before the deadline so we made it a double session for the two of them. The day before Thanksgiving, we met downtown in the warehouse district and alternated between the two of them throughout the session – allowing them the rest their smiles in between turns :). Both moms came with as well and we all had a blast getting to know one another and exploring the Millwork District area. I just have to add how I loved that they both showed up in plaid!

We took a few outside but it was short lived when we all started to freeze in the brisk November air (Mostly me ha!) That night I stayed up until 2am finishing their sessions for them before the holiday weekend so that they could share their images with their family and friends. I also decided to stay until the 1st up in MN so they needed to get done before I left anyways :). It was great fitting in two more seniors before the end of the year – I absolutely love senior sessions and look forward to the Class of 2015 already!

Ben // Platteville Senior 2014 // Platteville Senior Portrait Photographer

I am loving all of the senior guy session’s I’ve had recently and getting to meet such a variety of talented seniors! Ben drove all the way from Platteville to Dubuque for his session and we stayed right down in the warehouse district the entire time. I had the honor of photographing his senior session recently and it was so great meeting another fellow musician! I had played the alto saxophone in high school and loved every minute of it. Ben is a violinist and I loved the whole look of his session! His mom was trying to describe what he looked like to me and she had mentioned that he would probably be showing up in a full on suit. She said he basically looked like James Bond with a violin :).

The weather that day was definitely not ideal, however the sun was behind the clouds for part of the session and allowed us to shoot in some great spots! The wind was a bit chilly but it’s come to be expected for a mid-november session in Iowa! Enjoy your senior year Ben and keep up with your music! It’s an incredible talent to have and hold on to. Clayton // Dubuque Senior 2014 // Dubuque Senior Portrait Photographer

Meet Clayton, a senior at Dubuque Senior High and a member of their football team! I had a great time hanging out with him and his family, who tagged along during his session for a few quick family photos at the end! We started at the football field to get some of Clayton in his jersey which I think turned out awesome! I’ve never been to the football field there before and makes my hometown high school field up in Minnesota look like junior high :). We then took off for downtown and took some of Clayton with his awesome yellow car – I LOVE the bold, yellow contrasted with the older warehouse district. Perfect combo. We wanted to end up at Eagle Point Park where the leaves were still hanging on and the sun was just beginning to set. I’d like to think we squeezed in as much variety as we could in the hour we had for his session.
