Weber Family // Dubuque Family Portrait Photographer

Early this spring I had the honor of photographing Bonnie and her 4 beautiful children and I had such a wonderful time getting to know them all! We started at the Grand River Center in the Port of Dubuque and then ended up in the Warehouse district downtown just having a blast. It was surprisingly nice out for the middle of February and so we ditched the winter coats for the majority of the session and really had a wonderful time!

Bonnie was diagnosed with Breast cancer in June of 2009 and had gone through the Chemo process and everything throughout the year and had thought the cancer was gone after receiving good news from Mayo Clinic that November. Either early this year or late last year, Bonnie discovered the cancer was coming back and one of her relatives had set up a family session with me as a surprise to gift to Bonnie before she went through Chemo again. I recently had a friend loose her dad to an aggressive form of cancer just a week ago and it was hard to not be there for her while she went through all of this an entire state away from me! Bonnie has now gone home to spend time with her children and has a hospice along with her to help the family prepare for her final journey here on Earth. It has been so humbling for me to get to know her and see her fight through all of this with a smile on her face and an upbeat attitude most days. She still has her sense of humor and has stayed strong for her children.

I would just like to ask all of my wonderful fans to say a prayer for Bonnie and her children tonight and through the weekend so that they will find strength to help them all through this tough time and to know they are not going through this alone. Bonnie has changed my perspective on life – to live each day as if it were my last and to not leave anything on the table. Go out and actually LIVE your life and not just watch it pass you by as you absorb yourself with the things of this world. Family is HUGE to me and to see such a beautiful family go through something as terrible as this makes me truly count my blessings. None of us know what can happen in the future so let go of those grudges you have and hurt you are harboring and let go and live. <3

Terri Dolphin Kleitsch - What an awesome tribute to Bonnie. She was one of the best moms I’ve ever met and these pictures you took will be wonderful memories for Nolan, Macie, Maddie and Sydney. You do great work!
