Jeff & Carly // Dubuque Maternity Photographer

I have definitely been falling behind on posting new sessions and past sessions from last year after realizing my last post was in OCTOBER! This will be changing as I hope to finish up blogging most of last fall/winters sessions and weddings and finally get back on track!

To start it off, here is a recap from great friends Jeff & Carly’s maternity session! My husband was roommates with Jeff for 3 years back in college up at NDSU and I met Jeff when I started dating Mark and attended Chi Alpha at NDSU.:)Carly was one of those awesome girls in Chi Alpha who was simply the most out going and bubbly person you could meet! Carly and Jeff had been dating before Mark asked me out and once Mark and I were an “item” I really got to know the two of them since we were almost always in the same apartment most of the time. Eventually both Mark and Jeff had popped the one question all us ladies wanted to hear and we were all soon planning our weddings! Mark and I were married in May of 2011 and Jeff and Carly  said their “i Do’s” that following August. They later moved to South Dakota where Jeff is stationed as a Civil Engineer and Mark and I moved to the east side of Iowa – thinking we would hardly get to see them anymore. Fast forward to last fall when Jeff and Carly skyped us and informed us they were expecting!!! We were so thrilled for them and I was thinking of all these ways to visit so I could take their maternity photos! A few months later they called us asking if it was ok for them to stay at our home the end of January as they were driving through our area on their way to Ohio and I was THRILLED!! They were literally coming to us and I immediately told them to expect a maternity session while they were here! That day came and we couldn’t have asked for better weather towards the end of January. It was nearly 50 degrees out and the sun was shining. We did a few photos back in my studio when we started getting chilly but all in all, I was a happy camper. We got to hang out with our friends, I was able to see her ADORABLE baby bump in person and we had a great time catching up.

I wish you two the best with your little baby “Bison” (They were both NDSU grads!) and look forward to seeing updates when baby arrives!! Love you both so much and praying for you with this new transition in your lives!!

TJ & Molly // Dubuque Engagement Photographer

I had the opportunity of photographing TJ & Molly’s engagement session and I loved the few items they incorporated into their engagement session! Before the session, Molly emailed me a bunch of sample images she had found and really liked and we were able to duplicate a few of them and I really love how they turned out! Hey everyone!! I figured I would take a break from some of my photography posts and just put in a little personal one. I found this recipe I had gotten from a family friend of my husband and made them yesterday and they are SO GOOD!! Plus, the recipe I swear makes enough for like 6 dozen cookies! I’ve probably had a dozen myself just since yesterday and the batter alone is also yummy!

If you love chocolate chip cookies as much as me, you just HAVE to make these – and I would suggest in a kitchenAid mixer or something as large since there will be a LOT of cookie dough!! Recipe below: Leave a comment letting me know what you think of the recipe if you make them!!

1½ c. sugar

1½ c. brown sugar

Ross, Crystal & Ava // Dubuque Family Photographer

Crystal and Ava participated in my mother’s day mini sessions earlier this year and came back again for a fall mini session, this time with daddy Ross! Also – Crystal is about 6 months along with their newest addition to the family! They are such an adorable family and we had such a blast at their mini session!

It didn’t start off so great however – I was downtown with my husband wandering the warehouse district and we walked back to the car about 30 minutes before we were supposed to be at Mines of Spain for their session (I was planning on getting there early so I could see if any of the fall colors had changed since I was there last) and our car would not start. Not good! Mark lifted up the hood and found the cables to the battery had become disconnected and stuck in something I can’t remember. There was no way we were going to get the car to start for us and had to call up AAA and get it towed.

Meanwhile, I emailed Crystal and let her know that we would unfortunately have to cancel. She called me back within ten minutes and didn’t want to cancel since she had gotten hair and make-up done and came and picked me up instead! We ended up at Eagle Point Park instead and found a perfect spot full of leaves and gorgeous yellow trees in the background! I am so glad we were able to make it work – they turned out beautiful! And Ava just turned 4 is such a blast to photograph as always!!

Jason & Alaina // Brainerd Wedding Photographer

I had a blast photographing Jason & Alaina’s wedding! Not only because I knew both of them from working at Target back in high school, as well as knowing her brother Brian through school events but because it was an all around fun wedding party! Alaina had a gorgeous dress and was an absolutely stunning bride on her wedding day! I drove 7 hours north to my hometown, Brainerd, to photograph their wedding at St. Francis. It was my first time photographing a wedding at this church and they photos turned out fantastic! Not to mention the front doors were my favorite part ~ Alaina rocked a few photos standing in the doorway that are just to die for! It was a gorgeous day for a wedding (a little windy, but hey – it beats minnesota cold!) and once we made it to the reception the party officially started! (I got to ride in the limo with the wedding party to the reception and it was a blast! My first ever limo ride!) The reception decor at the Lodge was perfect as well as the Lodge itself – had an incredible up-north woodsy feel to it. :). Jason and Alaina – I was truly honored to capture the memories of your wedding day and I wish you both the best for all the years to come!
